Positive and negative, ready to fit.

Why This Product

The cable between your charge controller and your battery is the part of a solar system nobody photographs and everybody underestimates. Undersize it and you lose voltage across the run, which means the controller sees a lower battery voltage than is really there and stops charging early. You paid for the panels; there is no sense throwing away the yield in the last two metres. 8AWG is 8.37mm² of copper, rated to 55A under NEC guidance, which comfortably covers a Rover 30A or 40A, an Adventurer 30A or a Wanderer 30A controller. On a caravan where the controller sits near the battery box, 2.4 m is usually enough to route neatly rather than in a straight line. These are tinned copper rather than bare copper, which matters on the coast and matters anywhere a battery box gets damp. Bare copper goes green at the lug and resistance climbs; tinned copper does not.

Key Features

8AWG (8.37mm²) conductor – rated to roughly 55A, matched to 30A and 40A controllers with headroom for voltage drop.

2.4 m (8ft) per cable – enough to route around a battery box instead of cutting corners.

3/8 inch ring lugs at the battery end – fits standard battery terminal studs without adapters.

Bare stranded tail at the controller end – goes straight into a screw terminal, no crimping required on site.

Tin-plated oxygen-free copper – resists corrosion in damp battery compartments and coastal air.

TUV listed for PV solar use – UV resistant and rated for outdoor conditions.

Heat-shrink insulated terminals – abrasion resistance and no exposed copper at the lug.

Supplied as a positive and negative pair – one order, both cables, correctly colour coded.

Ideal For

Connecting a 30A or 40A MPPT or PWM controller to a caravan house battery.

Replacing undersized factory wiring that is costing you charge current.

Camper trailer and off-road trailer solar installs done properly the first time.

Bush cottage and farm solar setups where the controller is a couple of metres from the bank.

Anyone who has measured a voltage drop and decided to fix it.

Local Support from 4Matt Campers

We ship Renogy components anywhere in South Africa. The fuse protects the cable, not the controller, so size it to the cable rather than to the panel array. Strip only as much insulation as the controller terminal needs and make sure every strand goes into the clamp; a few strands folded outside the terminal is how hot spots start. Torque the ring lug onto the battery stud properly and check it again after the first long gravel trip. If your run is longer than 2.4 m, or your controller is 60A rather than 30A, step up to the 4AWG version rather than joining two of these together.

Complete Your Setup

Pair it with a controller from solar charge controllers, an array from solar panels and a bank from lithium batteries. An ANL fuse on the positive lead near the battery is standard practice and protects the cable from a short.

Why tinned copper rather than plain copper?
Battery boxes get damp and coastal air is corrosive.
