The Ironman 4x4 Reco Tracks GT Recovery Board in Sand is a moulded traction board that gives a bogged tyre a toothed surface to grip in loose ground. Its scooped end doubles as a digging tool, and two or more boards can be linked together for longer stretches of soft going.
A tyre spinning in loose ground digs itself in deeper the longer it spins, and a shovel isn't always within reach. This board's teeth are laid out from research into common off-road tyre tread patterns, and its concave ramp is shaped to help a tyre climb up onto the board rather than push it aside. Once you're through, the scooped end works as a digging tool, and the board can be turned end for end for the next recovery.
Our Cape Town-based team can help you work out how many boards and which mounting option suits your vehicle.
A few things worth deciding before you order:
Pair this board with a winch for tougher recoveries, browse more off-road recovery gear, see the rest of the Ironman 4x4 range, or check our general 4x4 accessories.
What does the scooped end do?
It's moulded with a deep gutter that can be used to dig sand out from under a tyre for extra traction.
Can the board be used in reverse?
Yes. The directional tooth layout is designed to assist entry and exit, and the board can be turned around for forward or reverse recovery.
Can I link more than one board together?
Yes. The entry and exit mouldings are designed so boards can be linked into one longer section where extra momentum is needed.
How do I mount this board to my vehicle?
Mounting pins or a base plate are available separately to secure the board for on-vehicle storage.
How much does one board weigh?
Each board weighs 2.7kg.
