Confirm with us at time of order whether a charge controller and connecting leads ship with your unit, as portable kits are configured differently depending on stock.

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

You still need a charge controller between panel and battery unless one is included. At 100W a good PWM controller is workable and an MPPT unit will squeeze out more, particularly on cold bright mornings. Get a reasonable MC4 extension lead so you can actually place the panel where the sun is rather than being tethered to the vehicle. If you later want more, a second panel can often be added in parallel, but check that your controller has the current headroom before you do. As with any portable panel, fold and stow it before you drive, and think about how you will secure it if you leave camp for the day.

FAQ

Will 100W run my camping fridge?
In good summer sun it will typically keep up with a modest, well-insulated compressor fridge. In winter, in cloud, or with a large fridge, it will fall behind and you will need more panel or a bigger battery to ride it out.

Do I need a charge controller?
Yes, unless one is supplied with your kit. Panels must not be connected directly to a battery. Check with us when ordering.

Can I add a second panel later?
Often yes, in parallel, provided your charge controller can handle the extra current. Ask us before buying the second one so we can check.

Is it better than a 100W panel on the roof?
Frequently, yes, because you can aim it and move it out of shade. The roof panel wins on convenience and on charging while you drive.

How small does it fold?
Small enough to slide behind a seat or into a locker. It is the easiest of the suitcase range to live with when it is not in use.
