The Renogy Tray Cable Set is a pair of 2.4 metre 4AWG (25mm²) cables with battery ring terminals crimped on one end and bare wire on the other, made to connect a solar charge controller to the battery bank. The 4AWG version is the heavy option, for larger controllers and higher charge currents.
The cable between charge controller and battery carries the full charge current, and people routinely undersize it because it looks like a short, unimportant run. It is not. A 60A MPPT controller pushing hard into a hungry lithium bank is moving serious current, and thin cable there means voltage drop the controller cannot see properly, slower charging, and heat. At 4AWG (25mm²) this set is sized for the larger controllers, which is exactly the situation where getting it wrong is most expensive. Having ring terminals already crimped on the battery end saves you making up the connection that matters most, and the bare wire end drops straight into the controller's terminals.

Fuse the positive lead close to the battery, sized to the cable and the controller's maximum output. Keep the run short and supported, use grommets through any bulkhead, and do not let the cable rub on a sharp edge behind a panel where you will never see it wearing through. Terminate the bare end into the controller cleanly, with ferrules if the terminals take them, and torque the ring terminals properly at the battery. Standard practice on a solar install is to connect the battery to the controller first and the panels last, and to disconnect in the reverse order.

4AWG or 8AWG, which do I need?
Broadly, 4AWG for high-output controllers around 40A to 60A, 8AWG for smaller ones. Length matters too. Send us your controller model and run length and we will confirm.
Which end goes to the battery?
The end with the ring terminals. The bare wire end goes into the charge controller's battery terminals.
Do I need a fuse?
Yes, on the positive as close to the battery as practical.
Can I use this cable for my inverter instead?
No. An inverter pulls far more current than a charge controller delivers and needs much heavier cable, typically 1AWG or larger.
Can I shorten it?
Yes, cut from the bare wire end. Never cut off the crimped ring terminals unless you can crimp new ones properly.
