The 300A version of the Renogy ANL fuse set, supplied with the fuse, the holder, the brass studs and a clear protective cover. This is the size you fit on the main battery feed to a 2000W or 3000W inverter, or on the trunk cable of a large lithium bank.
Once you install an inverter of any real size, the DC side of your caravan starts carrying currents that would be at home in a starter motor circuit. A 2000W inverter on a 12V bank pulls close to 180A continuous and considerably more on surge. Cable that size does not blow gracefully; if it shorts against a chassis rail on a corrugated road, it welds. That is what this fuse is for. A 300A ANL sits between the battery and the heavy cable, and if the worst happens it clears the fault before the cable becomes the fuse. It has a 600A interrupt capacity, so it can break a genuine lithium bank short rather than arcing across and continuing to conduct. The clear cover keeps the studs out of harm's way in a crowded battery box. It is worth saying plainly: fitting an inverter without a main DC fuse is the single most common dangerous shortcut we see in second-hand trailers.
4Matt Campers supplies Renogy gear nationwide across South Africa. A 300A fuse is only correct if your cable can carry 300A, so before you order, check the gauge of the cable it will protect. If you are not sure, phone us with the cable size and the inverter rating and we will tell you the right fuse. The full ANL range and matching fuse cable is in electrical accessories, and the wider range in Renogy.
Mount the holder in the positive line as close to the battery as you can, and use a short factory-terminated fuse cable for the link between battery post and holder, because that stretch is unprotected by definition. At 300A the quality of the joint matters: torque the ring lugs evenly, use lugs sized to the cable, and re-check them after the first long gravel run. Do not fit a 300A fuse on cable that cannot carry 300A. If the inverter is 1000W rather than 3000W, a smaller ANL is the correct choice and this one will happily let your cable burn before it opens. Keep the cover fitted, and keep the holder out of the direct path of anything that might be thrown around in the battery box.
Use it with heavy inverter cable and fuse cable from electrical accessories, a bank from lithium batteries and a unit from inverters and inverter chargers. Solar side gear is in solar charge controllers and solar panels.
What size inverter does a 300A fuse suit?
Broadly, a 2000W to 3000W inverter on a 12V bank, or a larger inverter on 24V. The deciding factor is the cable, so match the fuse to the conductor.
Does it include the fuse?
Yes. Fuse, holder and cover are all in the box.
Can I use it as the main battery bank fuse?
Yes, that is a common application. Fit it on the positive trunk cable close to the bank.
Will it fit 4/0AWG lugs?
The studs take standard ANL ring terminals. Check the lug hole size against the stud before ordering heavy cable, and ask us if you are unsure.
Is one fuse enough for the whole caravan?
It protects the trunk cable. Individual branches still need their own smaller fuses, sized to their own cable.
