Short Product Summary

A plug-in monitoring screen for Renogy Smart Lithium batteries. It talks to the battery's own management system over a single RJ45 cable and shows you real state of charge, voltage, current, remaining capacity and remaining runtime. No shunt, no calibration, no guesswork.

Why This Product

Traditional battery monitors measure current flowing past a shunt and then estimate what is left in the battery. They drift, they need calibrating, and on lithium they are especially poor because the voltage curve is so flat that a battery at 80% and a battery at 30% look almost identical. This screen takes a different route. It asks the battery's own BMS what is going on, and the BMS already knows, because it is counting coulombs cell by cell. What you see on the display is what the battery actually reports, not an inference. In practice that changes how you camp. Instead of second-guessing whether you can afford to run the inverter for another hour, you look at the remaining-time figure and decide. And when something is wrong, the screen shows a numbered warning code rather than simply cutting out, so you can tell the difference between a battery that is too cold to charge and a battery that has hit an over-current limit.

Key Features

  • Reads directly from the battery BMS – accurate state of charge instead of a shunt-based estimate that drifts over time.
  • No shunt required – one RJ45 cable to the battery's communication port and it works, with no heavy cable to reroute.
  • Plug and play – no system configuration and no calibration procedure before first use.
  • Full readout set – present voltage, present current, remaining capacity, remaining time, state of charge and battery level at a button press.
  • Parallel bank monitoring – shows the number of batteries in the bank and monitors charge and discharge across the whole string.
  • Nine warning codes – high and low temperature, over-voltage, under-voltage, charge and discharge over-current, each shown as a plain numeric code.
  • Battery shelf mode – hold the power button for three seconds to put the bank to sleep and preserve charge while the caravan is standing.
  • Simple two-button navigation – page up and page down, nothing to learn.

Ideal For

  • Caravans and campers running a Renogy Smart Lithium house battery.
  • Parallel banks where you need to see the whole string, not just one battery.
  • Owners who want an honest state of charge before deciding whether to run the kettle.
  • Long trips where a warning code beats an unexplained shutdown in the middle of nowhere.
  • Trailers that stand for months between trips and need a reliable way to put the bank to sleep.

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

The screen is powered and driven entirely through the RJ45 lead, so installation is a matter of routing one thin cable from the battery communication port to wherever you want the display. Mount it where you will actually look at it: beside the light switches or above the door works better than inside a cupboard. Keep the cable away from heavy DC runs where you can, and do not cut and re-terminate it unless you are confident with RJ45 crimping. If you have several batteries in parallel, connect the screen to the master battery in the chain, then link the batteries to each other with their communication cables so the screen sees the whole bank. If your battery has Bluetooth as well, the two work alongside each other; the screen is the one that still tells you something when your phone is flat.

Complete Your Setup

Pair it with a compatible bank from lithium batteries, charge that bank from solar panels through a unit in solar charge controllers, and run your 230V loads from inverters and inverter chargers. Communication leads, battery cable and fusing are in electrical accessories.

FAQ

Will it work with any lithium battery?
No. It is designed for the Renogy Smart Lithium series with an RS485 communication port. It will not read a generic battery or a lead-acid bank. Send us your model number and we will check.

Do I need a shunt as well?
No, and that is the point. It reads the BMS directly, so there is no shunt to install in the negative cable and nothing to calibrate.

Can it monitor several batteries at once?
Yes. In a parallel bank with the batteries linked by their communication cables, it reports the bank as a whole and shows how many batteries it can see.

What does shelf mode actually do?
It puts the battery or bank into a low-power sleep so it holds charge while the caravan stands unused. Hold the power button for three seconds to switch in and out of it.

Why is it more accurate than a normal battery monitor?
A shunt monitor infers state of charge from current and voltage, which is unreliable on lithium because the voltage barely moves between 80% and 30%. This screen reports what the BMS has already counted internally.
