Short Product Summary

The Renogy CORE 12V 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger combines a 2,000 W pure sine wave inverter, a powerful multi-stage battery charger and an automatic transfer switch in a single unit. Configured for South African 230 V AC, it lets your caravan or motorhome run mains appliances off the battery, then charge that battery automatically the moment you plug into shore power.

Why This Product

Most 12 V systems end up with an inverter bolted to one wall and a separate mains charger on another. This unit does both jobs and adds the piece most people forget: an automatic transfer switch. Plug into power at a caravan park and the unit passes shore power straight through to your sockets and begins recharging the battery. Unplug and it switches back to inverter mode quickly enough that appliances keep running. One box, one installation, far less cable, and no manual switching in the dark.

Key Features

  • 2,000 W continuous pure sine wave output – clean 230 V power that suits sensitive electronics, laptops and medical equipment.
  • 6,000 W surge capability – headroom for motors and compressors that draw heavily on start-up.
  • Built-in multi-stage battery charger – recharges the house battery automatically whenever mains power is connected.
  • Automatic transfer switch – fast changeover between shore power and battery so your appliances stay on.
  • LCD display – shows live system status and gives access to the programmable settings.
  • Extensively programmable – over twenty parameters including input and output voltage ranges and charging current.
  • Lithium compatible – works with LiFePO4 as well as AGM, gel and flooded lead-acid banks.
  • Remote control and battery temperature sensor supplied – operate it from your living space and charge correctly in heat or cold.
  • Conversion efficiency above 90% – less of your stored energy lost as heat.

Ideal For

  • Caravans and motorhomes that want proper 230 V plug points away from mains power.
  • Off-grid campers running a microwave, kettle, coffee machine or power tools.
  • Overland and expedition builds needing inverter and charger in one tidy installation.
  • Anyone alternating between caravan-park stays and true off-grid touring.
  • Systems with a lithium bank that deserve a proper multi-stage charger.

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

  • A 2,000 W load draws roughly 180 A from a 12 V battery, so size your bank, cable and fusing accordingly. This unit deserves a substantial lithium bank rather than a single small battery.
  • Short, heavy DC cable runs matter more here than anywhere else in the system; we can advise on the correct gauge.
  • Installation should be done by a competent person, particularly where the AC side connects to your existing sockets.
  • Step up to the 3,000 W model if you plan to run a microwave and air conditioner together.
  • Pair with a DC-DC charger and solar so the battery is replenished while driving and while parked.

FAQ

Is this the 230 V version?
Yes. This is the South African specification unit, configured for 230 V AC output at 50 Hz, not the 120 V North American model.

What does the transfer switch actually do?
When you connect to mains power, the unit automatically passes that power through to your sockets and starts charging the battery. When mains is removed, it switches back to inverter mode fast enough that appliances keep running.

What size battery bank do I need?
At full load a 2,000 W inverter draws around 180 A at 12 V. We generally recommend a substantial lithium bank; talk to us about the right capacity for how you actually use it.

Can it charge lithium batteries?
Yes, LiFePO4 is supported alongside AGM, gel and flooded lead-acid, with configurable charge current.

Do I still need a separate mains charger?
No. The charger is built in, which is the main advantage of an inverter charger over a plain inverter.
