A 2000W inverter draws serious current on the DC side, so the cable and fuse are not an afterthought. Plan on short, heavy battery leads and a correctly rated DC fuse or breaker as close to the battery as practical. Your battery bank needs to be able to deliver that current too: a single small lead-acid battery will sag long before the inverter does, which is why these are almost always paired with lithium. On the AC side, have the 230V side of the installation done by a competent person and keep the inverter output and shore-power input properly separated, which the built-in transfer switch is designed to handle. Mount the unit somewhere with real airflow, not buried under bedding.

Will this run a kettle?
Yes, a standard travel kettle or a small household kettle will run on 2000W. Do it one appliance at a time, and expect the battery bank to take a solid hit while it boils.

What does the transfer switch actually do?
When you plug into shore power at a caravan park, the inverter automatically passes the incoming mains through to your sockets instead of inverting from the battery. Unplug, and it switches back. You do not have to move any plugs.

Can I use this with lead-acid batteries?
Electrically yes, but a lead-acid bank large enough to supply 2000W without heavy voltage sag is big and heavy. For a caravan or camper, lithium is the sensible pairing.

Is this an inverter charger?
No. This model inverts and transfers, but it does not charge the battery from mains. If you want charging built into the same box, look at the Renogy Pro and CORE inverter charger models instead.

Does it work with South African plugs and appliances?
Yes, the output is 230V at 50Hz, which is South African standard. Be careful with US or UK listings for similar-looking Renogy inverters, as those are often 120V units.
