Short Product Summary

The Renogy REGO 12V 60A DC-DC Battery Charger is the premium tier of Renogy's alternator charging range. It delivers up to 60A / 800W of regulated 4-stage charge to your caravan or camper house battery while you drive, adds bidirectional charging that tops the starter battery back up once the house bank is full, and includes built-in Bluetooth so you can watch the whole thing from the Renogy DC Home app.

Why This Product

The real job of a DC-DC charger is to take the messy, voltage-limited output of your vehicle's alternator and turn it into a proper charge profile for the house battery. A lithium battery cannot safely be hung off an alternator directly — it will pull everything the alternator can give and still never see the correct charge voltage. The REGO solves that, then goes further: 75A Anderson plug-and-play terminals cut the installation time dramatically, and the bidirectional design means you never drive away with a half-charged starter battery. If you tour long distances and want to know exactly what your system is doing, this is the unit to fit.

Key Features

  • 60A / 800W charging – the fastest alternator charge in the Renogy range, refilling a large house bank in a couple of hours of driving.
  • Bidirectional charging – once the house battery is full, the REGO turns around and maintains the starter battery, so the vehicle is always ready to start.
  • Built-in Bluetooth – monitor starter and house battery voltage, charge current and reverse charge current live in the Renogy DC Home app.
  • USER mode customisation – set your own boost voltage, float voltage, boost duration and charge current from the app to match your specific battery bank.
  • 4-stage charging – a full staged profile rather than a blunt fixed voltage, which is what actually extends battery life.
  • Anderson PP75 plug-and-play terminals – Renogy rates the install time at roughly 60% quicker than conventional lug wiring.
  • Smart and traditional alternator support – 12.5–16V smart (Euro 6) alternator input, 13.5–16V traditional alternator input.
  • Included temperature sensor – -3mV/°C/2V compensation for lead-acid banks, protecting the battery in Karoo heat and cold winter mornings.
  • Full protection set – overvoltage, overtemperature and reverse polarity protection on both input and output.
  • Modbus and RV-C communication – integrates into a wider monitored 12V system rather than sitting on its own.
  • Parallel capable – two REGO chargers can run in parallel drawing from the starter battery and a 12V DC generator simultaneously.

Ideal For

  • Large off-road caravans and camper trailers with 200Ah or more of lithium
  • Overland and expedition vehicles that need fast recharge between camps
  • Panel van conversions and motorhomes running a monitored 12V system
  • Owners who want live app monitoring and adjustable charge settings
  • Installers who want a quick, clean Anderson-terminated fitment

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

  • Anderson adapter cables are not included. Renogy recommends 6 AWG Anderson PP75 to 3/8 in lug cables in 5 ft or 10 ft lengths depending on the run.
  • Terminals accept 8 AWG to 6 AWG cable — size the run for a sustained 60A and fuse correctly at both battery ends.
  • The supplied temperature sensor is for lead-acid chemistries; it is not compatible with lithium batteries.
  • Pair with the Renogy ONE Core for whole-system monitoring, or use the DC Home app on its own via built-in Bluetooth.
  • For parallel two-source charging, Renogy recommends the input supply current be 1.5x the charger rating — at least 90A for a 60A unit.
  • Mount in a dry, ventilated space with clearance around the housing; it is a physically large unit at 353 x 213 x 102 mm, so check your locker space first.

FAQ

What does bidirectional charging actually do?
Once your house battery reaches full charge, the REGO reverses and puts charge back into the starter battery instead of sitting idle. It means you arrive at camp with both banks topped up.

There is no screen on the unit — how do I see what it is doing?
Through the built-in Bluetooth module and the Renogy DC Home app on your phone. It shows starter and house battery voltage, charge current and reverse charge current.

Can I change the charge current or boost voltage?
Yes. Turn the selector knob to USER, connect via the DC Home app, and you can set the charge current, boost voltage, float voltage and boost duration to suit your battery.

Does the REGO have a built-in solar MPPT input?
No. It is an alternator charger only. Run a separate Renogy MPPT solar controller alongside it if you have panels.

How is this different from the CORE 60A?
Same 60A rating, but the REGO adds Bluetooth and app control, bidirectional starter-battery charging, 4-stage charging, Anderson plug-and-play terminals, Modbus/RV-C communication and an included temperature sensor.
