The Renogy REGO PowerBox is a complete 12 V off-grid power system built and wired into a single steel enclosure. Inside sit a 3,000 W pure sine wave inverter charger, a REGO 12 V 60 A MPPT solar controller, a 50 A IP67 DC-DC alternator charger, DC distribution, a battery monitoring shunt and both Renogy displays, all factory-wired and terminated on labelled Anderson-style connections. You supply the battery bank, the solar panels and the vehicle; the wiring between the components is already done.

Why This Product

A serious caravan or 4x4 canopy power system usually means an inverter charger on one panel, an MPPT on another, a DC-DC charger somewhere under a seat, a fuse box, a shunt, two displays and several days of cable routing, crimping and fault-finding. That work is where most of the cost and most of the problems live. The PowerBox moves it into the factory: every component is mounted, fused, bonded and cross-wired to a single wiring diagram, and the whole assembly bolts into the vehicle as one unit with external connections for solar, alternator, shore power, battery and loads. It is a significant investment and it is aimed squarely at large builds, commercial vehicles and full off-grid caravans where the installation labour and the risk of getting it wrong are real numbers. On a small trailer with one battery and a 200 W panel, it is more system than you need.

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

  • Batteries are not part of this listing. A 3,000 W inverter can pull in the region of 280 A from a 12 V bank at full load, so this system expects a substantial lithium bank with a BMS rated for that discharge, not a single 100 Ah battery.
  • Battery cable between the PowerBox and the bank must be short, heavy and correctly fused. This is the single most common thing people get wrong on systems this size.
  • The MPPT accepts up to 800 W of solar. If you plan a larger array, tell us before you order so we can plan the panel configuration or a second controller.
  • At 1100 mm wide and roughly 38 kg, mounting location and structural support need to be worked out before the unit arrives.
  • The AC side should be connected by a competent person, particularly where it ties into an existing distribution board or shore power inlet.

FAQ

Is this the 230 V version?
Yes. This is the South African specification unit with a 220–240 V AC inverter output, not a 120 V North American model.

Does it come with batteries?
No. The PowerBox houses the electronics and the wiring; you choose the battery bank to suit your usage. We will help you size it.

Can I charge from solar, the alternator and mains at the same time?
Yes. The system has a 60 A MPPT for solar, a 50 A DC-DC charger for the alternator and a mains charger inside the inverter charger, all wired to the same bank.

How much solar can I connect?
The internal MPPT is rated for up to 800 W of solar charge power across its two solar inputs.

Is this overkill for a small camper?
Often, yes. If you are running lights, a fridge and charging phones, a simple inverter, DC-DC charger and MPPT will serve you better for far less. The PowerBox earns its place on large builds with heavy AC loads and on vehicles where installation time is the expensive part.
