Short Product Summary

The Renogy Rover 60A MPPT solar charge controller is a heavy-duty regulator for larger 12 V off-grid systems, with automatic 12 V / 24 V / 36 V / 48 V recognition, a 150 V maximum solar input and 99% MPPT tracking efficiency. It handles up to 800 W of solar on a 12 V caravan or camper system, with an informative LCD, a switchable load output and an external battery temperature sensor included.

Why This Product

When your rooftop array grows past a couple of panels, the regulator becomes the bottleneck. The Rover 60A gives you real headroom: 60 A of charge current, a 150 V input ceiling that lets you wire panels in series, and 97% conversion efficiency so very little of your harvest is lost as heat. The high input voltage is the quiet advantage on a caravan or camper. Series wiring means thinner cable over long roof runs and better performance on overcast Cape mornings, when a lower-voltage controller would still be waiting to wake up.

Key Features

  • 60 A charge current – enough for large rooftop arrays and fast recharging of substantial battery banks.
  • 150 V maximum PV input – wire panels in series to cut cable losses on long roof and A-frame runs.
  • Up to 800 W solar at 12 V – and 1,600 W at 24 V if you ever move to a higher system voltage.
  • Automatic 12 V / 24 V / 36 V / 48 V detection – one controller that grows with your system.
  • 99% MPPT tracking and 97% conversion efficiency – very little of your solar harvest is wasted.
  • 4-stage intelligent charging – with presets for lithium, sealed, AGM, flooded and gel batteries.
  • Switchable load terminal – run 12 V DC appliances directly from the controller, up to 20 A.
  • External temperature sensor included – compensates charging in cold and hot weather so the battery is neither under- nor over-charged.
  • Clear LCD with self-diagnostics – live system data and error reporting without needing a phone.
  • Full protection suite – reverse polarity, short circuit and over-temperature protection built in.

Ideal For

  • Off-road caravans and overland campers with 400 W to 800 W of rooftop solar.
  • Systems using series-wired panels where input voltage climbs well above 12 V.
  • Motorhome and 4x4 conversions running fridges, inverters and lithium banks.
  • Owners who want room to expand the array later without replacing the regulator.
  • Installations where a clear on-unit display is preferred to an app-only controller.

What's Included

  • 1 × Renogy Rover 60 A MPPT solar charge controller
  • 1 × external battery temperature sensor
  • 1 × user manual

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

  • Total array open-circuit voltage must stay below 150 V in the coldest conditions you expect; panel Voc rises as temperature drops.
  • Add a Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth module if you would like phone monitoring alongside the built-in LCD.
  • The load terminal is handy for lights and small DC loads, but run fridges and inverters directly off the battery through their own fusing.
  • Fit correctly rated cable and fusing for 60 A between controller and battery; ask us if you are unsure of the gauge.
  • Pairs well with a DC-DC charger so alternator and solar charging work together on long touring days.

FAQ

How much solar can I connect?
Up to 800 W on a 12 V system. The other limit is voltage: keep total array open-circuit voltage under 150 V, allowing for the rise on cold mornings.

Can I wire my panels in series?
Yes, and with a 150 V input ceiling that is often the better choice. Series wiring reduces current in the cable, which means less voltage drop over a long run.

Does it support lithium batteries?
Yes. It has a lithium preset alongside sealed, AGM, flooded and gel profiles.

Can I monitor it from my phone?
The controller has a built-in LCD. Add a Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth module if you also want app monitoring.

What is the load terminal for?
It lets you switch 12 V DC loads such as lighting directly from the controller, up to 20 A.
