Short Product Summary

The Renogy Smart Distribution Box PMS1280 is the DC control centre of a modern caravan or motorhome electrical system. It takes a single 80 A feed from the battery and splits it into twelve individually fused and individually switchable load circuits, each with its own current sensor. It also reads tank levels, temperatures and voltage, and talks to a Renogy ONE display over CAN so you can see and switch every circuit from one screen or from your phone.

Why This Product

A conventional fuse block tells you nothing. When a light stops working you go looking with a multimeter, and you have no idea how much current any circuit is actually drawing. The PMS1280 replaces that fuse block with something that reports: blown fuse indicators on the unit itself, per-circuit current measurement, programmable low-voltage cut-outs so the battery is never flattened by a forgotten load, load shedding when capacity gets tight, and remote switching so you can turn the water pump off from bed. For anyone building a caravan with a Renogy ONE Core or ONE Vision display, this is the piece that turns a collection of components into a system you can actually see and control.

Key Features

  • Twelve switchable DC load circuits – eight rated to 10 A and four rated to 20 A, each with a built-in current sensor.
  • 80 A total input current – a single heavy feed from the battery replaces multiple runs to separate fuse blocks.
  • Pre-fused outputs with blown fuse indicators – you can see a failed circuit at a glance instead of testing each fuse.
  • Programmable low-voltage cut-out and high-voltage cut-in – loads shed automatically to protect the battery and reconnect when it recovers.
  • Smart Scene and automatic switching – group circuits and trigger them together for driving, camping or night modes.
  • Four tank level inputs – resistive or conductive sensors for fresh, grey and waste water.
  • Two temperature inputs – measurement from -20°C to 80°C.
  • Six digital inputs and four digital outputs – dry contact signals for switches, sensors and external relays.
  • CAN communication – works with the Renogy ONE series and Renogy ONE Vision for on-screen and app control, alarms and diagnostics.
  • Inverter remote port – RJ12 connection so a compatible inverter can be switched from the same interface.
  • 12 V or 24 V systems – suitable for either bus voltage.

Ideal For

  • Caravan and motorhome builds that want proper DC circuit control rather than a plain fuse block.
  • Owners already running a Renogy ONE Core or ONE Vision display who want tank, temperature and load data on one screen.
  • Off-grid campers who need automatic low-voltage protection so a forgotten light cannot flatten the bank.
  • Converters wiring twelve or more DC circuits who want per-circuit current data for fault-finding.
  • Marine and expedition vehicle builds needing remote switching and load shedding.

Local Support from 4Matt Campers

4Matt Campers is a Renogy dealer in Cape Town, serving customers across the Western Cape and delivering across South Africa. We can help you plan the circuit layout, work out which loads belong on the 10 A channels and which need the 20 A channels, specify the feed cable and main fuse from the battery, and pair the unit with the right Renogy ONE display and tank sensors. Send us your circuit list and we will map it out with you.

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

  • Tank level sensors, temperature probes and the Renogy ONE display are separate items. Tell us what you need and we will quote the complete set.
  • The 80 A feed from the battery needs correctly sized cable and a main fuse at the battery end. We can specify both.
  • Plan your circuit list before installation: eight channels are limited to 10 A, so anything heavier, such as a water pump, winch controller or large inverter remote circuit, needs to go on one of the four 20 A channels.
  • Full remote monitoring and control needs a Renogy ONE Core or ONE Vision on the CAN bus. The distribution box will still distribute and protect without one, but you lose the screen and app features.
  • Mount it where the fuse window and blown fuse indicators remain visible and reachable.

FAQ

How many circuits can it control?
Twelve, each individually fused and switchable: eight rated to a maximum of 10 A and four rated to a maximum of 20 A, within an 80 A total.

Do I need a Renogy ONE display?
Not to distribute and protect power, but you do need one for remote monitoring, switching, alarms and the tank and temperature readouts. It communicates over CAN with the Renogy ONE series and ONE Vision.

Will it stop a forgotten load flattening my battery?
Yes. Low-voltage cut-out and high-voltage cut-in are user programmable, and load shedding can drop circuits automatically as the bank gets low.

Does it work on a 24 V system?
Yes, it supports both 12 V and 24 V DC.

How do I know which fuse has blown?
Each output has a blown fuse indicator on the unit, and each circuit has a current sensor, so a dead circuit shows itself without a multimeter.
