The Renogy Tilt Mount Bracket Set in the 71cm (28 inch) length lets you lift a roof-mounted solar panel off the flat and angle it at the sun. It is the cheapest meaningful upgrade you can make to a fixed array, and it pays for itself fastest in winter.
A panel lying flat on a caravan roof is a compromise. It is convenient, it harvests while you drive, and it is permanently pointed at the wrong angle. In a Cape winter the sun tracks low across the northern sky, and a flat panel can lose a large slice of its potential output simply because the light is hitting it at a shallow angle. Tilt brackets let you park up, lift the panel to face the sun, and get a genuinely better yield out of hardware you already own. They fold flat again for travel, so you keep the low-drag, low-risk profile on the road and only deploy the tilt when you are stationary for a while. This 71cm set suits smaller and mid-size panels.
We ship Renogy components anywhere in South Africa. We will tell you honestly whether tilt brackets or an extra panel is the better spend for your setup, because it depends entirely on how you travel. Come through to the showroom or call us with your panel size and we will confirm the right bracket length.
Confirm the exact bracket count with us at time of order.
Tilt brackets are only useful while you are stationary, so always fold the panel flat before you drive. A raised panel at highway speed is a large sail on a lever arm and will damage both the panel and the roof. Fix the base of the brackets the same way you would fix any panel mount, ideally bonded rather than drilled through a caravan roof. Remember to re-aim the panel as the season changes, not just the time of day, and be realistic about wind: on an exposed site a tilted panel catches gusts, so drop it flat if the weather turns.
Pick the panel from our solar panels range and a matched unit from our solar charge controllers collection. Store the energy in a bank from our lithium batteries range, add 230V from our inverters and inverter chargers, and get mounting hardware, glands and MC4 leads from our electrical accessories collection. Everything Renogy is in our Renogy collection.
How much extra output will I actually get?
It depends on season and latitude. The gain is modest in midsummer when the sun is high and substantial in winter when it is low. If you camp in winter, it is worth it.
Can I drive with the panel tilted?
No. Always fold it flat before moving. A tilted panel at speed will be torn off.
Which length do I need?
Match it roughly to your panel's short dimension. This is the 71cm set; there is also a 127cm set for larger panels. Send us your panel model and we will confirm.
Will it fit any panel?
It is designed for framed rigid panels using their existing mounting holes. Flexible panels have no frame and cannot use these.
Do I still need corner brackets?
You need something to fix the tilt mount base to the roof. Talk to us about the right combination for your roof material.
