A matched pair of two-way solar Y connectors, one MMF and one FFM, for wiring two panels in parallel. They mate with standard solar connectors by hand and seal to IP67, so a parallel array becomes a two-minute job with no cutting and no crimping.
Two panels is the most common caravan array in South Africa, and parallel is the most common way to wire them. Parallel keeps the array at 12V system voltage, which means a simple PWM controller works and an MPPT controller has an easy time of it. The catch is that you need to join two positives into one and two negatives into one, and there is no elegant way to do that with terminal blocks on a roof. Y connectors solve it properly: a sealed, purpose-made joint rated well beyond what the panels can deliver, that comes apart by hand when you want to isolate one panel and find out which of them is the problem. They also make an array modular. Add a portable panel to a roof array for a few days, then unplug it and put it back in the trailer. That flexibility is worth more on a long trip than most people expect.

Position the connectors so the leads hang downwards and water runs away from the seals. Cable-tie them to a rail or a panel frame rather than leaving them to swing on corrugations. Remember that paralleling two panels doubles the current in the run down to the controller while the voltage stays the same, so check that your main cable and any in-line fuse are rated for the combined output. If you are running a long cable from roof to controller, series wiring into an MPPT controller will lose less along the way, so it is worth checking your controller's maximum input voltage before committing to parallel. Cap any unused connector.
Use them with panels from solar panels, in-line fuses and extension leads from electrical accessories, and a controller from solar charge controllers. Storage is in lithium batteries and 230V conversion in inverters and inverter chargers.
Do I get both connectors?
Yes, the pair. One MMF for the positives and one FFM for the negatives.
Series or parallel for two panels?
Parallel keeps the array at 12V and suits PWM controllers. Series doubles the voltage, halves the current and suits an MPPT controller on a long run. Check your controller's input limits.
Will they fit non-Renogy panels?
They use standard solar connectors, which most panels are fitted with. Compare your existing connectors before ordering.
Can I add a portable panel through these?
Yes, that is one of the neatest uses. Just make sure the added panel is similar in voltage, or the array will be dragged to the lower of the two.
Do I need fuses with two panels?
With only two panels in parallel the back-feed risk is low, but an in-line fuse per string is still good practice and gives you a handy isolation point.
