Short Product Summary

The Renogy Voyager is a 20 A PWM solar charge controller with a fully sealed IP67 waterproof housing, built for 12 V and 24 V systems. It suits off-road trailers, camping trailers, boats and any installation where the regulator has to live somewhere wet, dusty or exposed rather than in a protected cupboard. A backlit LCD shows exactly what your solar array and battery are doing at a glance.

Why This Product

Most charge controllers assume a clean, dry mounting position. On an off-road trailer, a camping trailer or a bakkie canopy, that position often does not exist. The Voyager is sealed to IP67, so it can be mounted in an exposed locker, on a drawbar box or under a canopy without worrying about dust ingress on a Karoo gravel road or driving rain on the N2. It handles 12 V and 24 V systems automatically, supports lithium as well as lead-acid, and gives you a clear readout without needing a phone app.

Key Features

  • IP67 fully waterproof housing – sealed against dust and water immersion, so it can be mounted where other regulators would fail.
  • 20 A charge current – handles up to 260 W of solar at 12 V, or 520 W at 24 V.
  • Automatic 12 V / 24 V recognition – one controller covers both system voltages.
  • Smart 4-stage PWM charging – Bulk, Absorption, Float and Equalisation for a complete, battery-friendly charge cycle.
  • Four battery profiles – including Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) alongside the usual lead-acid chemistries.
  • Backlit LCD display – bright blue readout showing live system information and error codes, no app required.
  • Very low self-consumption – draws just 0.24 W at 12 V, so it barely touches your battery overnight.
  • Comprehensive protection – reverse polarity, overcharge, short circuit, reverse current, overload and over-discharge.
  • Compact and light – roughly 154 × 97 × 36 mm and about 250 g, easy to mount almost anywhere.

Ideal For

  • Off-road and camping trailers where the regulator cannot be mounted somewhere dry.
  • Bakkie canopies, game viewers and utility trailers with a modest solar panel.
  • Boats, ski-boats and marine installations exposed to spray.
  • Smaller 12 V setups running lights, a water pump and a camping fridge.
  • Anyone wanting a simple, rugged regulator with a readable display rather than an app.

Optional Fitment & Upgrade Notes

  • This is a PWM regulator. If you are running 300 W or more of solar, or want the maximum possible harvest from your panels, an MPPT controller will return noticeably more energy.
  • Note the positive ground design when planning your earthing; speak to us if you are unsure how it interacts with your existing wiring.
  • Keep total panel wattage within 260 W on a 12 V system and 520 W on 24 V.
  • The IP67 rating covers the controller itself; use suitably rated glands and connectors so the whole installation stays sealed.

FAQ

Can it really be mounted outside?
Yes. The Voyager is rated IP67, meaning it is fully sealed against dust and protected against water immersion, which is why it suits exposed trailer and marine installations.

Does it work with lithium batteries?
Yes. It supports four battery profiles including Lithium Iron Phosphate, as well as the usual lead-acid types.

How many panels can I connect?
Up to 260 W of solar on a 12 V system, or 520 W on a 24 V system.

Should I choose this or an MPPT controller?
Choose the Voyager when you need a rugged, sealed, straightforward regulator for a smaller array. Choose MPPT when you have a larger array and want the highest possible daily harvest.

Do I need a phone to use it?
No. All system information is shown on the built-in backlit LCD.
