The Holdfast Tow/Winch Straps are heavy-duty 50mm straps built for vehicle recovery, light pulling jobs and marine work. Specify a tow or a winch type, and a 3-metre or 6-metre length, to match the job at hand.
Grabbing the wrong strap for a recovery is more than an inconvenience — a winch strap has no give to absorb a snatch recovery's shock, and a tow strap isn't built to spool neatly around a drum. Because these come as one type or the other, you pick the strap built for the job, whether that's pulling a bakkie free of mud or bringing a boat up onto its trailer.
Ask our South Africa team to confirm whether you need a tow or a winch strap before you order.
Tow and winch straps do different jobs, so check these points before ordering:
For lighter jobs, look at our cam straps and ratchet straps instead, or browse recovery gear for a complete kit.
What's the difference between tow and winch straps?
A tow strap gives slightly under load, soaking up the jolt of a snatch recovery. A winch strap runs flat and doesn't stretch, so it spools evenly onto a drum instead of bunching up.
Can I use a winch strap to snatch-recover a vehicle?
No. With no give to soak up the shock, it can snap a recovery point. Use a tow strap for that job instead.
What lengths are available?
3 metres or 6 metres.
What is the strap made from?
High-tenacity polyester webbing, treated to resist UV and weather.
