A new Alu-X with the camp already on it: a Front Runner rooftop tent, a 2.5 m Front Runner awning, two rear drawers and a fridge slide, on Alu-Star’s all-aluminium monocoque trailer. The 2026 Alu-Star Alu-X Camper is the smallest trailer in the Alu-Star range, light enough on its 750 kg base GVM to tow on a Code B licence. This unit is built up with the options below. Who it suits

Anyone who wants a light, compact camping trailer with the tent, shade and storage sorted from day one. At Alu-Star’s 750 kg base GVM it tows on a Code B licence, behind smaller vehicles as well as full-size 4x4s. Making camp means unfolding the rooftop tent, swinging the awning out on its brackets and pulling out the drawers.

• Front Runner Feather-Lite II rooftop tent mounted on the aluminium lid rack, with a mattress inside

Alu-Star’s option list includes run-in brakes, saddle boxes, a camping table that stores in the lid rack, a 240V inlet with multi-plug and camp lead, a gas bottle holder and a jerry can holder, with water tanks and a 12V battery system on request. What licence do I need to tow this Alu-X? A Code B licence. Alu-Star builds the Alu-X on an unbraked axle with a 750 kg base GVM, which is within the Code B limit. The tent, awning and drawers add weight, so 4Matt Campers confirms this unit’s tare and GVM from its papers and checks them against your vehicle before you buy.

What is included in the price? The Alu-X Camper base trailer plus every option fitted to this unit: the aluminium nose cone, lid rack and park stands, a fridge slide with divider, rear drawers with a fixed deck, a partition, the Front Runner Feather-Lite II rooftop tent, the Front Runner Easy-Out 2.5 m awning and adjustable awning brackets. NaTIS introduction and a data dot are included; licence and registration are by the owner.

Does it come with a fridge, water tank or battery system? No. The fridge slide is ready for your fridge, and Alu-Star offers water tanks and a 12V battery system on request. We can quote and fit them, with fridges from National Luna and Flex and power from Lumeno and Renogy.

Can I add brakes or more storage later? Yes. Alu-Star’s option list includes run-in brakes (GVM 1 600 kg), saddle boxes, a camping table that stores in the lid rack, a 240V inlet with multi-plug and camp lead, a gas bottle holder and a jerry can holder. With brakes the GVM goes over 750 kg, so towing it then needs a Code EB licence.

Can I finance this trailer or trade in my current one? Yes to both. Finance is arranged in-house and trade-ins are welcome, with nationwide delivery across South Africa.
